Director's Award Winners

FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition

On January 22, 2005, after months of designing, building, programming and testing, the CODE team won the Illinois State competition giving them first place out of 170 teams.

They have just returned from representing Illinois in
the FIRST LEGO League International Competition
in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia
where they placed 10th of 74 teams and won three awards.


This event will included 74 teams from 20 different countries.

Their robot placed 17th in performance with a top score of 355

The team had to perform well in four areas of competition

Robot Performance
The robot must successfully complete 9 missions

Technical Presentation
The team must describe their hardware and software design and innovation in a five minute presentation

Research Presentation
The team must do research on the use of technology to aid the handicapped and present a five minute presentation of their ideas

Teamwork
The team is observed throughout and interviewed to assess their level of teamwork
both within their own team and towards other teams in the competition.
